Most Denver Broncos fans had no hope of a comeback in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.
After struggling in the first three games of the season, Bears quarterback Justin Fields dominated the Broncos’ defense and helped Chicago jump out to a 28-7 lead in the first three quarters of Sunday’s game.
Here’s a sampling of how Twitter (now known as X) reacted while Denver was trailing.
This is more embarrassing than last week!!!!!!!! What in the world are the Broncos doing? #BroncosCountry

The Bears have lost 13 straight entering today’s game.
They are currently beating the Broncos 28-7.
Didn’t think we could get any lower than last week… but here we are.

The Denver Broncos are truly something.
They have perhaps the best offense and defense this century (2013 and 2015), and perhaps the worst offense and defense this century (2022 and 2023).

Defense is uninspired, predictable and just made Justin Fields who has struggled all season look like an MVP

This is only week 4. This shit can’t be who we are! I know we got more heart than this. It’s going to be a long terrible season if someone doesn’t correct this.

What’s worse, giving up 70 in 60 minutes to Miami or giving up 21 in 30 minutes to Chicago?

me talking about the Broncos defense this year pic.twitter.com/4ltICA530w

Holy crap. Fields has a perfect passer rating pic.twitter.com/EOhDOQozew

The Broncos defense is one of seven $100 million defenses in the NFL. It’s the 6th highest paid. And they’re getting toyed with by the Justin Fields & the winless Bears. Remarkable.

how is it possible for the broncos defense to be this bad.
— charles (“you look good” – andy reid) mcdonald (@FourVerts) October 1, 2023
The Broncos winning 5-7 games does NOTHING for the franchise. The entire team needs to be torn down & rebuilt. No better way to do that than with the #1 pick in next years draft. We are fans, not players or coaches. Theres’s nothing wrong with wanting what’s best as a fan.

If Sean Payton wants Caleb Williams, he doesn’t need to tank. He only needs to keep VJ on the staff. Genius. pic.twitter.com/Rx3Z26JnJv

If you think a #Broncos loss in Chicago is rock bottom… Can you imagine if Nathaniel Hackett and Zach Wilson pile up the points next week?
— Eric Goodman (@EricGoodman) October 1, 2023
All in on tanking for Caleb Williams, the 2023 season is over for Denver
— Austin White (@ajw_sports) October 1, 2023
That #1 pick all the sudden looking very realistic.
— Trevor Judge (@TrevorJudge) October 1, 2023
Caleb Williams?
Caleb Williams!
— Romi Bean (@Romi_Bean) October 1, 2023
Yup. I'm 100% convinced that Sean Payton is tanking for Caleb Williams.
— Joe Ostrowski (@JoeOstrowski) October 1, 2023
If the Broncos were attempting to tank for Caleb Williams, current quarterback Russell Wilson didn’t get the memo. Wilson threw three touchdown passes on Sunday and helped the team to a 31-28 victory. As it turns out, the panic on Twitter was a bit premature.
