Broncos showed interest in safety before he joined Bengals

Before he agreed to join the Cincinnati Bengals, free agent safety Nick Scott also drew interest from the Denver Broncos, according to a report from KPRC-TV’s Aaron Wilson.

It’s unclear how recently Denver showed interest in Scott, but the team’s interest might be a sign that the Broncos are still in the market for a safety. The most notable safety still available is C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and he has drawn interest from Denver.

The Broncos did just re-sign safety P.J. Locke, but he is a backup rotational defensive back who plays primarily on special teams. Scott is a starting-caliber safety who 16 games for the Rams last season.

Scott totaled 86 tackles, five pass breakups, two interceptions and two forced fumbles in 2022. He’s now joining the Bengals on a three-year, $12 million contract.

So far, general manager George Paton has signed 10 unrestricted free agents. We are tracking all of the team’s free agency moves on Broncos Wire.
