Broncos select OLB David Ojabo in Lance Zierlein’s first 2022 NFL mock draft

In his first 2022 NFL mock draft, NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has the Denver Broncos selecting Michigan edge defender David Ojabo with the ninth overall pick in the first round.

“Unless the Broncos grade this year’s QB class differently than I expect, Ojabo could very well be the pick,” Zierlein wrote on NFL.com. “He’s not ready as a run defender but his pass-rush talent is undeniable.”

Zierlein has Denver passing on quarterbacks Kenny Pickett (No. 11) and Malik Willis (No. 17) to select Ojabo, a Nigeria-born pass rusher.

After moving to Scotland with his family at age 7, Ojabo later moved to the United States at age 17. He later committed to play college football for the Wolverines but did not play as a freshman in 2019. Ojabo played sparingly in 2020 before emerging as a starter in 2021.

Ojabo had a breakout season as a junior, totaling 35 tackles — including 12 tackles for losses — 11 sacks, five forced fumbles, three pass breakups and one fumble recovery last year.

Outside linebacker is one of the Broncos’ biggest positions of need this offseason.
