It took Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson seven games to throw six touchdown passes under former coach Nathaniel Hackett in 2022. Wilson already has six touchdown passes through three games under new coach Sean Payton.
While the Broncos are 0-3 in 2023, Wilson’s play has significantly improved since last season.

I think offensively, one of the keys to victory is [eliminating] some of the self-inflicted. Sometimes there are mistakes that can be forced or because of the opponent. Then other times, whether it’s a holding [penalty] or a false start.
“[It’s about] eliminating and cleaning up some of that. Certainly, our second half scoring. I think this is a game where our red zone efficiency is going to be important. I would look at it a little bit more as a team on offense than specific to ‘Russ.’ We saw it at the end of training camp, and we’re seeing it now. He’s operating quickly and throwing well.”
Wilson has been sacked 10 times this year and he’s thrown two interceptions and he lost a fumble. So there’s still room for improvement, but overall, Wilson is off to a good start under Payton.
