Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson has thrown at least one touchdown pass in all 11 of the team’s games this season, and he hasn’t thrown a single interception during the team’s five-game winning streak.
Wilson’s numbers this year aren’t flashy, but they are efficient. Wilson’s 2,199 passing yards rank 21st in the NFL, but his 68.3 completion percentage ranks fifth in the league, as does his 103.4 passer rating.
With 20 touchdown passes and four interceptions, Wilson has the best touchdown-to-interception ratio (5-1) in the NFL. Going into Week 13, his ratio is better than Dak Prescott (23-6), Justin Herbert (20-6), Patrick Mahomes (21-9), Tua Tagovailoa (22-10) and Josh Allen (24-13).
“[H]e’s measured just like our offense,” coach Sean Payton said of Wilson on Monday. “I thought he did a good job with decisions [in the red zone in Week 12]. He had a scramble throw to [Adam] Trautman for a touchdown … Russell [also scored] a touchdown [Sunday] off zone read.”
In addition to his efficient passing, Wilson has also rushed 53 times for 266 yards and a touchdown this season, making plays with his legs more often than he did last season. Wilson’s performances this season have not been perfect, but he has played well, particularly during the winning streak. If the veteran QB continues protecting the ball, Denver will have a legitimate chance to make the NFL playoffs this season.
