Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix said last week that he was looking forward to meeting and competing against Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson on Sunday.
Jackson certainly put on a show, completing 16-of-19 passes for 280 yards with three touchdowns and no turnovers in a convincing 41-10 win. After the game, Nix was asked about meeting the two-time NFL MVP.
“[Jackson] played really well again,” Nix said. “He’s a phenomenal football player, throws the ball really well. He used several arm angles today that’s just really good, and it’s hard to do what he does on a consistent basis. He missed some practice this week and came out looking very sharp, so props to him. He’s a phenomenal player. That’s why he’s got all the accolades that he does.
“I was able to see him for a brief time after the game. It’s just mutual respect. We’ve both been in each other’s shoes. We understand what it’s like to navigate the craziness. I think it’s special to be able to share a field with a guy like that. Hopefully, there’s many more.”
Nix finished the game 19-of-33 passing for 223 yards with one interception. He also caught a touchdown pass thrown by receiver Courtland Sutton. Jackson’s one of the NFL’s best, and he’s making a case to win yet another MVP award. Nix, meanwhile, is still going through some rookie growing pains. Jackson is the NFL’s present. We’ll see if Nix can grow into becoming the future.
