The 3-5 Denver Broncos undoubtedly received calls, but general manager George Paton and head coach Sean Payton did not make any last-minute moves ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon.
The deadline has now passed, so the Broncos won’t be able to make any trades until the 2024 offseason. Denver can still sign free agents and claim players off waivers, but trades are now off the table for the rest of the 2023 season.
The most notable non-trade was that of wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who has received interest from multiple teams for more than a year. Jeudy is now set to remain with the Broncos in 2023. He’s also under contract for next season after the team picked up his fifth-year option worth $12.987 million.
Denver did make one in-season trade earlier this month when they sent outside linebacker Randy Gregory to the San Francisco 49ers in a late-round pick swap on Oct. 6. The Broncos also attempted to trade pass rusher Frank Clark before releasing him a few weeks ago.
So, Denver goes into the bye with six picks available to use in the 2024 NFL draft next spring. If they want to acquire any more draft capital for 2024, the Broncos will now have to wait until the offseason.
