When the Denver Broncos faced the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1, cornerback Pat Surtain followed wide receiver DK Metcalf the entire game.
Metcalf did catch six passes against Surtain, but he did not have any big plays as the cornerback limited the receiver to just 36 receiving yards.
Surtain will face another tough test this week when the Broncos go up against the Las Vegas Raiders and star receiver Davante Adam.
Surtain is eager for the challenge.
“I embrace it a lot, going against premier receivers like that week in and week out,” Surtain said Monday. “You just expect that, especially coming from our division. We’re facing top receivers each and every week, so you just have to come out and do what you have to do.
“Going against a receiver like that, a top receiver, we just have to — it comes down to film study and your preparation throughout the week. You can only control what you can control going forward. It’s going to be a good battle and [I’m] looking forward to it.”
Surtain was targeted six times in coverage by the San Francisco 49ers last week and he did not allow a single reception. The second-year cornerback is yet to allow a touchdown catch this year.
Adams, meanwhile, has totaled 17 receptions for 189 yards and three touchdowns through his first three games with the Raiders this season.
Surtain vs. Adams will be the matchup to watch in Week 4.
