Georgia football owes Brock Bowers a big, fat thank you after the star tight end pretty much carried the No. 1 Bulldogs to a narrow 27-20 win on the road against Auburn on Saturday.
Bowers finished with eight catches for 157 yards and one touchdown, averaging 19.6 yards per reception.
But his stat line doesn’t tell the full story because the junior was a major factor in the Bulldogs’ comeback win after taking over and making several incredible catches — along with picking up some serious yardage after the fact. He was practically unstoppable.
With Georgia trailing, 17-10, late in the third quarter, quarterback Carson Beck connected with Bowers for a 29-yard gain, setting up running back Daijun Edwards’ 13-yard game-tying touchdown run on the next play. Then Georgia settled for a field goal on its next drive early in the fourth after Bowers made 37-yard and 28-yard plays.
But the Bulldogs won the game with a go-ahead touchdown catch by Bowers with less than three minutes left on the clock. After Bowers’ 16-yard reception on third-and-12 to advance into Auburn territory, Beck found the 6-foot-4, 240-pound tight end again for a 40-yard touchdown to help secure the victory.

Brock Bowers was literally a game-changer for Georgia in that one. He was at his best when it mattered most, in the 4Q. That being said, jury is still out on whether UGA is still top dawg.

Whenever you start to worry about Georgia, just remember they always have "throw it in Brock Bowers' general direction" as an offensive solution.
