Broadway stars unite to raise funds for homeless pregnant women

Broadway is making its way to Santa Monica.

Jenna Ushkowitz, known for her role in 'Glee,' expressed her motivation to support other mothers in need within her community. In a statement, Ushkowitz said, 'As a new mother, I felt compelled to support and serve other mothers in need within my local community.' Ushkowitz was introduced to Harvest Home by some wonderful friends who are also mothers. She deeply resonated with the organization's mission and dedicated work and feels privileged to contribute to their cause.

Merle Dandridge, known for her work in projects such as 'The Last of Us' and 'Station 19,' added her thoughts on the inspiring women at Harvest Home. She stated, 'The women at Harvest Home are a constant inspiration. The courage, the spirit, and the joy that erupts while embarking on motherhood during the toughest of circumstances...well, it puts the enormous heart-capacity and ferocious fire of being a woman on full display.'

Leading the musical direction for the event will be Seth Rudetsky, known for 'Disaster! The Musical,' and James Wesley of 'Stars in the House.' The staging will be handled by Lee Martino, who has worked on productions like 'Les Girls.' The event is being hosted in partnership with Your Kids, Our Kids, an organization founded by Rudetsky and Wesley.

Harvest Home has been providing housing and support to families since 1985, positively impacting the lives of over 650 unhoused pregnant women and their children. Their programs empower and equip residents during critical periods of pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum bonding.

Sarah Wilson, the executive director of Harvest Home, expressed her gratitude towards Jenna Ushkowitz and Merle Dandridge for organizing this event. She said, 'We are so grateful to Jenna and Merle for coming together with their friends to amplify the experience of unhoused pregnant mothers who are working to end generational homelessness for their families.' Wilson further emphasized that the event not only raises awareness and funds but also honors capable and resilient women who are often marginalized.

Pre-sale tickets for 'Jenna, Merle, and Friends: A Night of Song' are currently available for purchase, with general ticket sales starting on February 19. To secure your spot and contribute to this meaningful cause, visit www.harvesthomela.org/benefitconcert.
