Appropriate is one of the hottest tickets on Broadway, drawing a star-studded audience and receiving critical acclaim since its opening in December. The play, written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and directed by Lila Neugebauer, has been likened to Tony-winning productions like August: Osage County and The Humans.
The storyline follows three siblings, portrayed by Sarah Paulson, Corey Stoll, and Michael Esper, as they reunite at their late father's Arkansas home to settle his estate. Uncovering mysterious objects amidst the belongings leads to the revelation of long-buried family secrets and unresolved tensions.
The Second Stage Theater production, currently running at the Hayes Theater in New York City, has seen overwhelming demand for tickets. Initially selling out its scheduled run and a subsequent extension until March 3, the play will transfer to the Belasco Theater for an additional 13-week limited engagement starting March 25 through June 23.
The majority of the original cast, including Paulson, Stoll, Esper, and others, will continue with the production at the new venue. Elle Fanning, who made her Broadway debut in the play, will be replaced by Ella Beatty for the transfer.
Notable celebrities such as Cate Blanchett, Lupita Nyong’o, and Hugh Jackman have shown their support by attending performances. The list of famous faces in the audience also includes Jennifer Garner, Scarlett Johansson, and Sally Field, among others.
Tickets for Appropriate can be purchased on Telecharge.com, with the box office at the Belasco Theater set to open on March 11 for the upcoming run. The play's compelling narrative and stellar performances continue to captivate audiences and attract a diverse array of theater enthusiasts.
