The director of Broadway award-winning play ‘The Kite Runner’ is taking another play to the Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin next week.
American playwright and director Dr Matthew Spangler is bringing ‘Albatross’ - a play based on a classic Samuel Taylor Coleridge poem about a sea voyage - to Dublin for a two week run. The renowned playwright received his Master’s in Theatre from Trinity College Dublin and has co-written a book about the performing arts industry in Ireland.
He says that both his adaptations of ‘The Kite Runner’ and ‘Albatross’ rely heavily on the use of monologue, a feature which he says is typical of many Irish plays.
