NPLW Northern NSW leaders Broadmeadow have secured former Melbourne City striker Rhali Dobson for the rest of the season in a major boost for the club and competition.
The 30-year-old is set to make her first appearance for Magic, who are the only unbeaten team in the league after six rounds, when they host Newcastle Olympic at Magic Park on Friday night.
Dobson retired from professional football two years ago and last year played for Bolwarra Bushrangers in men's Zone League.
Her last season in the NNSW women's competition was for Merewether in 2020.
**Adamstown left-back Leah Puxty, who trained with the Jets during the A-League Women's season, has been named in a 30-player Young Matildas squad for a training camp in Blacktown next week.
Jets defender Kirsty Fenton, who plays for North West Sydney in NPLW NSW, is also in the Australian under-20 squad.
The Young Matildas are preparing for the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica in August.
**Rising talent continues to emerge in NPLW NNSW.
Maitland 14-year-olds Peyton Hamilton-Vosilla and Ella McDonald both made their first-grade debuts last month.
Hamilton-Vosilla made her first top-level appearance against Charlestown Azzurri on April 10 then McDonald debuted in first grade against Adamstown on April 24.
**Female Football Week starts Friday and will celebrate the continued growth of the women's game.
Events over the week include a coaching masterclass (May 9) and a referees masterclass (May 13).
