India’s broadcasting sector saw a jump in foreign direct investment by 87 percent to Rs 7,012 crore in the fiscal year 2024, as per data released by the department for promotion of industry and internal trade, as per Exchange4media. The sector had received Rs 3,745 crore in FDI in the previous fiscal year.
The biggest share of the FDI, at Rs 4,306 crore, was clocked in by Viacom18, with Bodhi Tree Systems, according to the report.
The FDI inflow was the highest in the first quarter of FY-2024. It slowed in the second quarter to Rs 1,165 crore. In the third quarter, it was Rs 332 crore and Rs 661 crore in the last quarter. From April 2000 to March 2024, the sector has received Rs 69,583 crore as FDI.
Meanwhile, in the previous year, services, computer software and hardware, and trading sectors received the highest FDI inflow. The top three investing countries were Mauritius, Singapore, and the USA.
