Internet service provider Truespeed has now connected 300 South West businesses to its network, it has announced.
The Bath-based full-fibre broadband provider, which reaches more than 200 communities in rural and urban areas across the region, stretching to the outskirts of Portishead and down to Frome - said its rollout had helped create a “level digital playing field” for firms.
Truespeed secured a £100m investment from Aviva Investors at the start of the year to support its network build across the region.
The funding was the second tranche Truespeed received from the asset management arm of the insurance giant, which invested £75m into the supplier in 2017.
In May the company announced an expansion of its network following an £8m investment, which it said would benefit businesses and residents in more than 9,500 properties across the north east part of Somerset.
Chief executive James Lowther said: “Truespeed is working tirelessly to improve connectivity across the South West and we’re thrilled to have connected 300 businesses to ultrafast broadband. It’s great that Truespeed is helping so many local businesses thrive by providing full fibre broadband they can rely on.”
The 300th business to be connected to Truespeed’s network was Kelston Vets, based in the village of Kelston, four miles north west of Bath.
Veterinary practitioner Ian Cardiff said: “We’re looking forward to growing Kelston Vets knowing all our online needs are covered, so we can continue providing exceptional care for animals and their owners.”
Truespeed is the headline sponsor of the BathLive Business Awards, which will be held on Thursday, September 29, at Bath Pavilion. To find out more about the awards and how to attend, visit the event's official website.
