Broadband provider TalkTalk issues Wi-Fi tips for best chance of getting Taylor Swift tour tickets

Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour is set to be the highest-grossing concert run in history - and demand for tickets is almost unprecedented. In reaction to the pre-sale starting on July 10 on Ticketmaster and new dates being added to her UK and Europe 2024 leg, an expert from broadband provider TalkTalk has issued his top tips to fans hoping to secure tickets.

According to new data, Google searches for tickets soared by an enormous 3,233 per cent after Swift first announced her line-up of gigs earlier this year. Swifties were sent into melt down again just a few days ago when they were waiting to find out if they were successful in getting a pre-sale code from Ticketmaster.

The codes give fans a better chance of getting their hands on tickets, but availability is still hugely limited. But with the pre-sale date almost here, Martin Wren-Hilton, Tech Guru and router expert at TalkTalk, has shared his top tips for maximising Wi-Fi connections to give fans the best opportunity of securing tickets - and to avoid a 'Cruel Summer'.

Location, location, location

Wren-Hilton says wherever you're hoping to see Taylor, the most important location to remember when securing tickets is where your Wi-Fi router is in the home. Placing your router correctly can make your Wi-Fi connection more reliable and stable.

He adds: "Make sure it's positioned in the centre of the home on a flat, open surface and off the floor - a guaranteed 'Love Story'."

Disconnect devices you're not using

Having lots of tablets, laptops and phones connected to the Wi-Fi at once uses more of your bandwidth, which can make your internet connection slower. Want to be 'The Lucky One'? The expert urges fans to disconnect devices not being used from the Wi-Fi to free up your connection.

Bring your (Wi-Fi) back up

Wren-Hilton says we know what it's like 'All Too Well' the pain when your internet cuts out, so it's worth making sure you have a contingency plan in place on the off chance you have an outage. This could be by using mobile data or using TalkTalk's backup.

The broadband provider claims to be one of the only companies to offer a free internet back up feature, thanks to the Amazon eero router, which comes with full fibre packages. It enables customers to "set up an automatic hotspot through their mobile phone to keep the whole home connected."

Don't let ticket scammers pull a 'Swift' one

The tech guru warns: "Don't be tempted to buy tickets from untrustworthy sites – no matter how desperate you are to 'Shake it Off' at The Eras Tour. Keep your network protected with adequate security software that automatically blocks potentially risky third-party ticket sites from appearing."
