Britney Spears has declared she will "never return" to the music industry after a new report emerged claiming that music executives were "trying to make her excited to make music again".
Recently, it was alleged that the Everytime singer, 42, was going to joining forces with Julia Michaels and Charli XCX to record a new top secret album.
However, Spears has now branded the speculation “trash” and insisted that she is not planning to record new music – ever again.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, she wrote alongside a Renaissance painting of Salome Bearing the Head of St. John the Baptist: “Just so we’re clear most of the news is trash !!!
“They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album … I will never return to the music industry !!! When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people !!!
Referencing her recent memoir, The Woman In Me, she continued: “For those of you who have read my book, there’s loads that you don’t know about me … I’ve written over 20 songs for other people the past two years !!!
“I’m a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way !!! People are also saying MY BOOK WAS RELEASED WITHOUT MY APPROVAL ILLEGALLY and that’s far from the truth … have you read the news these days ??? I’m so LOVED and blessed !!!”
Her comments come as an insider told Rolling Stone Magazine that music execs were trying to get Spears back into the recording studio for a new album.
A source close to the singer told the outlet on Wednesday: “Right now, management and A&R are trying to get her excited for the music.
“As of right now, she's not actively in recording but they're getting [songs] done to present to her.”
The insider added that “nothing is cemented or in stone” after Spears vowed that she “will never return to the music industry” on social media.
