Britney Spears' youngest son has defended his grandad over the controversial conservatorship which saw the superstar's freedoms taken from her.
A week ago, the pop icon, 40, accused her parents of setting up the conservatorship, and alleged her dad Jamie, 70, "loved to control everything I did", in a 22 minute clip shared on YouTube.
The singer has been outspoken about the restrictions she was placed under for 13 years since the conservatorship came to an end in November and in the voice recording released last week, which has now been made private, said she made to feel like she was nothing.
"The main thing I do remember when it started was my dad's control. He loved to control everything I did," The Toxic singer said.
"I remember the first day he said 'I am Britney Spears and I am controlling the shots' and I was like 'alright then'."
However, her youngest son Jayden, 15, who she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline, has offered a more generous reading of Jamie, who, among others, was left in control of the singer's finances when the conservatorship was imposed.
In an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, in which Kevin, 44, also appeared, Jayden said: "He was trying to be like any father, like pursue his daughter's dream of being a superstar, working and doing all these concerts and performing.
"But I think some people are just, like, ceasing to realise how much he cares about her."
In an interview with ITV, Jayden also said the conservatorship was a "father caring for his daughter."
Jayden mused: "Maybe the conservatorship took a little too long. That is why people developed a hatred for him.
"That is why my mum was angry that she was working too hard. She should have taken a break. But he doesn’t deserve all the hatred he is getting in the media," the 15-year-old said.
"Mom is ceasing to realise how much he cares about her. I love him with all my heart.
"He was just trying to be a father," the teenager claimed.
Former back-up dancer Kevin defended Jamie too, and said the conservatorship "saved" the singer when it began in 2008.
He told 60 Minutes Australia: "I wasn't involved in any of it how the conservatorship came about. I don't know. They were worried about their daughter and trying to do whatever they can to help her. That's all that I knew."
Kevin and Britney dated for three months before they got engaged and then married in September 2004.
The pair had two sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jadyn, with Britney filing for divorce in 2006.
In the video clip released last week, Britney claimed the conservatorship was not needed.
"None of it made sense. Literally the extent of my madness was playing chase with paparazzi, which is still to this day one of the most fun things I did about being famous," she said.
Speaking about the impact of the restrictions, she said: "They made me feel like I was nothing and I went along with it because I was scared. I didn't really do anything, I had a whole swab team, none of it made any sense."
