Pregnant Britney Spears goes swimming as she says water is the best exercise for babies

Britney Spears has been enjoying the benefits of swimming - showing off her impressive skills underwater on social media.

The pregnant star - who announced she was expecting her third child on Monday - took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a clip of herself going "really deep" underwater as she took a dip in a pool.

The mum-of-two gushed about the benefits of the water-based activity to her 40.6million followers on the social media platform - explaining she has heard it's "the best exercise for babies".

Writing on Wednesday, Britney, 40, once again referred to future baby daddy Sam Asghari, 28, as her "HUSBAND" - adding to the theory she and the actor have already tied the knot, following Sam's proposal last year.

In the video shared to her profile, the Grammy award-winning singer can be seen wearing a white bikini, as she elegantly swims around deep underwater before embracing beau Sam.

"Yesterday my HUSBAND and I went swimming …. I’m like a fish," the mum-to-be began in her caption.

"I go really deep then I have to remind myself that you have to come up for air. Psss ... I heard water is the best exercise for babies."

Many of her loyal fans backed up her claim, with one commenting: "Absolutely! Swimming ! I worked out all 7-8 months pregnant and it was the best thing I did for my body and brain."

Paris Hilton was also on hand to comment underneath Britney's latest update, as she often does, writing: "So happy for you beauty."

"You look free," one fan observed, with another adding: "I love seeing you enjoy yourself again!!!"

The fan comments likely relate to Britney's new-found freedom - following living her life for 13-years under the control of a controversial conservatorship.

The legal guardianship - which saw the star's father manage her financial and personal affairs - was finally terminated in November 2021, following explosive revelations from Britney earlier in the year.

"I want to be able to get married and have a baby," the pop icon admitted in June 2021, during a public plea to be freed from the legal and financial control of a team.

"I was told right now in the conservatorship I am not able to get married or have a baby."

The Gimmie More singer also told the court how she how she had requested to have her IUD removed "so I could start trying to have another baby, but this so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don’t want me to have...any more children."

Since gaining her freedom, Britney has been open and public about her desire to add to her family with Sam, and on Monday, the couple shared their happy news.

Britney - who shares teenage sons Sean, 16, and Jayden, 15, with ex-husband Kevin Federline - took to Instagram to tell her fans, writing: "I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back … I thought “Geez … what happened to my stomach ???”

"My husband said “No you’re food pregnant silly !!!” So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby … 4 days later I got a little more food pregnant It’s growing !!! If 2 are in there … I might just lose it."
