Britney Spears' husband breaks silence on why she's quit 'traumatising' social media

Britney Spears' husband Sam Asghari has broken his silence on why his wife chooses to take a break from social media.

In a statement shared to his Instagram Stories, Sam said the platforms can be 'traumatising' for the 41-year-old singer and asked fans to be wary of being 'over protective'.

"Social media can be traumatizing. Sometimes it's good to take a break. She has her voice and is a free woman. I have respect for her privacy and I protect it at all times.

"Thank you to all of her protective fans," he wrote amid fears from fans that Britney isn't in control of her own social media accounts.

Sam added: "Out of respect for her privacy I don't post her 247. I ask for permission if I ever do."

In another slide he wrote: "For my job I have to attend many events. It would be my honour if she joins. For her those things are not fun. They're hictic [sic] and full of stress.

"Specially, since she's been doing these things since 8 years old. Plus she already slayed every single one she has been to."

Sam finished his heartbreaking statement by writing: "I've always respected and supported her privacy with everything I've had. I ask of you supportive and protective fans to do the same.

"Sometimes being over protective can cause more stress and damage."

Sam's statement comes after Britney sparked concern by deactivating her Instagram account earlier this week, making it the fourth time in the past five months.

Britney deleted her Instagram account back in mid-November after refusing to join her husband Sam Asghari on an Instagram Live.

She said at the time: "I don’t wanna jump in, I have nothing to say. I don’t wanna talk to them right now."

Back in October, Britney also deleted her account after slamming the way her family treated her during her conservatorship.

Fans have been concerned by Britney's unusual posts in the past few months, including one in which she recently gushed about her estranged sister Jamie Lynn Spears.

Britney also posted naked photos of herself in the bath, covering herself with a small flower emoji and placing her hands over her breasts.

The pictures came just one day after the pop icon branded another celebrity a "piece of s***" in an explosive rant.
