A school boy from Bath who fell from an apartment in Spain died in an accident, an inquest has found.
15-year-old Max McMullen from Beechen Cliff School died after falling from the the seventh-floor window.
It happened while he was on an exchange trip in the city of Cordoba on October 19, 2019, reports Somerset Live.
Max's family said in a statement outside Avon Coroner's Court that he was an "amazingly talented and special person".
They told BBC Points West that they would "never forgive" what happened to him.
The family said: "We will never forgive what happened to Max.
"He had such a bright future ahead of him full of success and happiness that was so cruelly taken from him.
"Max will never be forgotten by everyone who knew him. You just could not forget him, he was one of a kind."
The two-day inquest heard the Bath pupil may have been trying to fix a window shutter before he fell.
It heard no evidence to suggest he sought to take his own life.
Witnesses said he appeared to be settled and enjoying the trip, despite experiencing some low moods in the past.
The court heard how Max was a happy young man who loved sport.
He had reportedly met with friends in a local park the night he died. He left the group at around 10pm and his body was found on the ground outside the host's apartment around an hour later.
In a statement read on the first day of the inquest, Max's mother Karen said his death had left his family with a "hole in the heart".
She said it had "traumatised" the family.
In July, a dad has paid tribute to his "amazing" teenage son who fell 120ft to his death while walking with family in the Lake District.
Khalil Ahmed, 48, said he was on a "bonding exercise" with his son Sami, 15, on June 10 when their "happy" day out into turned into a "nightmare" following the tragedy.
The dad-of-four said he had earlier climbed local peak 'The Old Man of Coniston' with Sami and several of his cousins and uncles.
But the teen, who was 10 minutes ahead of him and walking with his cousins, chose to descend down a "dangerous" section of terrain alone.
He then sadly lost his footing and fell approximately 120ft - or 35m - to his death.
The health charity worker said he had no idea what had happened until he caught up with Sami's cousins and found out that he was no longer with them.
