British spirits company Au Vodka bought by US drinks giant for £300m

  • Swansea-based spirits company Au Vodka has been acquired by American drinks giant Sazerac in a deal reportedly worth £300m.
  • Founded in 2015 by friends Charlie Morgan and Jackson Quinn, the brand gained fame for its signature gold bottles and social media marketing.
  • Broadcaster and DJ Charlie Sloth joined the firm as an investor, with the business growing to employ more than 80 people in Wales.
  • Co-founder Charlie Morgan hailed the acquisition by Sazerac as the natural next step for Au Vodka's global expansion.
  • Sazerac, which owns major brands including Buffalo Trace Bourbon and Southern Comfort, aims to use the deal to strengthen its UK market presence.
