The British Soap Awards returned with a bang on Saturday night after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic.
Casts of Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors hit the red carpet for the glamorous two-hour event hosted by Phillip Schofield at The Hackney Empire in London.
Soap stars competed for the top gongs of the year of which the majority went to Emmerdale and EastEnders.
This year was notable for another reason as 2022 saw the Best Leading Performer category become gender-neutral for the first time, the Mirror reported.
The likes of Mark Charnock and Paige Sandhu battled it out for the top gong – with Paige coming out on top, but Mark winning in the Dramatic Performance category.
