British man charged with offences linked to Islamist terror group

  • British man Jermaine Grant has been charged with offences linked to the Islamist terror group Al-Shabaab, based in Somalia.
  • The 43-year-old faces charges of directing the activities of Al-Shabaab between 31 December 2007 and 1 January 2010.
  • Grant is also charged with three counts of attending an Al-Shabaab commando training camp in Kismayu, Somalia.
  • Additionally, he faces two counts of possession of an AK47 for terrorist purposes.
  • The charges follow an investigation by Counter Terrorism Policing London, and Grant is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning.
