A British man has been found dead and a British woman seriously injured at a luxury hotel in Italy.
The 40-year-old man was found in a room next to a woman, aged 43, understood to be his wife, both covered in cuts and bruises.
The man is reported to have suffered a seizure or heart attack, though this has not been confirmed by investigators.
Staff at the four-star Hotel Continentale, near the Ponte Vecchio bridge in the Vicolo dell'Oro, central Florence, called the emergency services on Saturday morning after the woman alerted a maid.
She was rushed to the city's Careggi hospital where she is understood to be in a stable condition.

The couple had only arrived at the hotel night before, with the incident happening in the early hours.
The maid found the woman in the corridor, and she had "lost a lot of blood", reports Firenze Today.
A police source said police are working on a number of theories in relation to the incident.
They told the MailOnline: "The man was found with a series of cuts, bruises and other injuries on his body and so was the woman, although she was more seriously hurt and the man appears to have had some sort of seizure.
"Her current condition is serious but she is stable and her injuries are not life-threatening.
"We hope to question her at some point in the next few hours."
Guests had reportedly told reception about worrying noises coming from the couple's room before the maid found the woman.
Another source told the news outlet: "The woman had raised the alarm after a chambermaid knocked on the door but some of the guests had already called reception to report shouting and banging coming from the room."
Footage on local TV showed multiple police cars and an ambulance outside the hotel.
Forensic teams were also seen walking out of the reception area.
Rooms at the hotel cost £350-per-night, with Prince Charles and Tony Blair among previous guests.
