A "brilliant and brave" British journalist is in intensive care after being injured while reporting in Ukraine, a top official has said.

The Mirror reports that Benjamin Hall, a foreign affairs correspondent at Fox News, was not in a military facility - thought to be the main targets of Russian shelling - when he suffered "serious injuries".

The circumstances of the incident have not yet been established.
