Singer Cammy Barnes was the only Scot to reach the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent and hoped the nation got behind him when he performed on tonight’s live show, and he was left just short of a place in the final.
The 32-year-old from Methil, Fife, made Scotland proud with his rendition of Caledonia in the fourth semi-final show where he was desperately hoping Scotland's viewers would rally around him and vote him into Sunday's grand final show on ITV.
He was battling it out for the final place among the 40 contestants who had fought head-to-head and it was teen comedian Cillian O'Connor and dancer Lilliana Clifton who got the first places in the top three acts.
It was then down to Cammy and 'half naked' act Tonikaku when the Scottish singer had his chances dashed as it was the Chinese performer who made it through, but Cillian was chosen to go through as the winner among the three that were left.
Cammy was up against some tough competition including solo dancer Lilliana Clifton, 13, who left judges speechless with her performance as Simon even compared her to George Sampson.
Aside from Lilliana, Cammy also was up against battling for a place against NHS nurse comedian Georgie Carroll, teen magician Cillian O'Connor and dance group Unity.
Cammy admitted he was "worried" about choosing the song but said how proud he is of his homeland, and that it just "had to be that song".
Meanwhile, Scottish viewers were left outraged when the judges hadn't a clue what the song was, despite it being one of the most iconic anthems of the country.
"I wasn't familiar with the song, but I love what you did with it and I loved your confidence tonight you were so grounded and you have the most beautiful tone," expressed Alesha Dixon.
Amanda Holden added: "I wasn't sure what the song was but it was absolutely beautiful, you are so down to earth and just an amazing bloke it was fantastic."
Bruno however did appear to be in the loop, as he said: "I love Caledonia, its a true Scottish anthem and you sang it with such feeling and passion from the heart. You are the voice of Scotland."
Simon also praised the performance, saying: "What a great choice of song for you it was perfect, I thought you had so much more character from when we first saw you. Scotland will be proud of you tonight."
Scots took to Twitter following the news as they fumed over the results, with one writing: "What an absolute f**** joke. Cammy and Unity out. That a*****e through? What a joke. #BritainsGotTalent."
Someone else quipped: "how the f*** did a guy in pants get in the top 3 over Cammy Barnes & Unity ??!!! #BritainsGotTalent."
Another wrote: "#bgt #BritainsGotTalent total fix been trying all night to vote for Scotlands own cammy and it wouldn't let me!!"
Cammy, who plays with The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, won over the judges in his audition with a soulful rendition of Olivia Rodrigo’s Drivers License which he dedicated to his newborn daughter Bonnie.
Britain's Got Talent's live semi-finals air all this week at 8PM on ITV1 and ITVX.
