A British woman has died after being hit by a suspected drink driver in Turkey.
The woman, who's believed to be a pensioner from Middlesbrough, Teesside, was on holiday in the popular area of Bodrum in the country when tragedy struck.
She was walking back to her hotel at around 2am when the female driver of a Mini Cooper lost control and mounted the pavement, according to local reports.
The force of the impact pinned her to a wall and she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The UK Government's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has confirmed the death of a British woman and is liaising with other authorities over the matter.
A FCDO spokesman said: "We are supporting the family of a British woman who died in Turkey and are in contact with the local authorities."
He friends told a local Turkish online newspaper they were set to return to return home today before the incident in the area of Mugla on Monday - at Adnan Mendered Street and Gumbet Bars Street.
Pictures taken at the scene showed a group of shocked bystanders gathering after the crash.
The following day an awning was hung over the wall with a broken bollard lying across the pavement.
A woman is reported to have been arrested and an investigation has been launched by Turkish authorities, reports the local newspaper.
