BRIT Awards: Sam Fender and Olivia Dean win Song of the Year for Rein Me In

Olivia Dean won her first-ever BRIT Award in the Song of the Year category

Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s Rein Me In has won Song of the Year at the BRIT Awards.

The duo took home the opening award of the night at Saturday’s (28.02.26) ceremony in Manchester for the duet - which originally appeared on Sam’s album People Watching before the pair reworked the track.

It marks the first-ever BRIT win for Olivia - who is up for five prizes at the ceremony - whilst Fender takes home his fourth prize overall.

Olivia, 26, said after she and Sam received the prize from Robbie Williams : "I think this is a beautiful song and it's been a pleasure to be a part of it."

Sam said: "I love this, I wrote it about four years ago and I loved it then. Olivia has made it her own, so I want to say thank you to Olivia and thank you to the fans."

The triumph continues the awards success for Olivia, who declared how she was the “product of bravery” after triumphing in the Best New Artist category at the Grammys earlier this month.

The Man I Need hitmaker - who also performed that track at the BRITs - said at the time: "I never really imagined that I would be up here, let alone nominated. So thank you so much.

"I just want to say that an artist is really nothing without their team. Emily, my best friend, my manager, we've been doing this for 10 years. So this is for you, too, my family."

Olivia released the acclaimed album The Art of Loving last September and revealed that it was inspired by the Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw - even though she had never watched the series before.

The London-born star told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "I’d never seen Sex And The City before, and started watching it from the beginning. I have been living my Carrie moment – her influence will be there."

Olivia also shared that one particular song focuses on relationship struggles.

She said: "Something In Between is about when you are between being with somebody and not, and you are like, ‘I don’t want to just have you in my life, like now we are not supposed to talk?’"
