“That one was a shout-out to Limmy, the Scottish Glaswegian comedian who has f****** powered our lives,” he told journalists.
One of Fender’s associates then described Limmy as “the best comedian to ever live”, before taking a punt at copying his his psychic character Raymond Day’s “she’s doonstairs” line.
It's not the first time the Geordie crooner has expressed a love for all things Glaswegian, even telling the crowds at his sold out Barrowlands Headliners "if Scotland leaves the UK please take us with you!".
He's also taken pictures with fellow singer, Lewis Capaldi, backstage at the legendary Barrowlands venue.
And who knows, Sam might get a chance to get together with Limmy this summer as he headlines TRNSMT in July.
