Brit, 27, holidaying in Thailand 'disappears' moments before flight home

The family of a British man holidaying in Thailand fear he disappeared moments before flying home and have issued a urgent plea for sightings.

Simon Robinson, 27, of Skegness, Lioncolnshire, has been reported missing after it’s believed he failed to board his flight home on July 26 at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok.

He left to holiday in the southeast Asain country on July 22 and was due to fly home on August 3, but changed his flight to July 26.

A trace of his mobile phone’s signal showed that he was in Bangkok on July 26, but the signal disappeared or was turned off five minutes before reaching the airport, the Bangkok Post reports.

His family are reported to be very worried because his phone was switched off after he spoke with his girlfriend, who lives in Boston.

He called her on Juy 26 to say he was coming home, the Lincolnite reports.

His relatives contacted the British embassy in Bangkok and have turned to social media for help, the Bangkok Post reported.

Simon’s sister Sarah Robinson Dale, who lives in Barnsley, said this is uncharacteristic of him. She is urging anyone with information to report it to the police.

I am thankful for everyone’s support and sharing. All anyone can do at the moment is if you are in Bangkok and see him contact the police or ask Simon to call me and if you’re in another country just keeping sharing the picture,” she wrote on Facebook.

Friend Sam Champ earlier posted in the Thailand Travel Advice TH Facebook page, saying: “Hi guys. I need your help please One of my dear friends has gone missing in Bangkok, he hasn’t been heard from since the 26th of July.

“He was supposed to board a flight that day and he didn’t show up. It was his 27th birthday yesterday and everyone is growing very concerned.”

The Standard has contacted the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for comment.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed Robinson’s disappearance has been reported to the force.
