A woman said her family were "just missed" by a falling tree when walking to school on Monday (July 3). The woman, who asked not to be named, said she was walking her kids to school when the tree fell on Ashton Drive in Ashton Vale.
Speaking to Bristol Live she described how, more than four hours later, residents still didn't have full access to the road and she also told of how pedestrians had to walk "on the pavement under the tree to access their houses". She said she called the emergency services, who reported the fallen tree to the council, to ask for help.
Photos show the tree dangling in a precarious position over the pavement and covering the entire road. The top of the tree even looks to be encroaching on a resident's driveway, almost hitting the car parked there and completely blocking it from leaving.

A spokesperson for Bristol City Council said: “High winds in the local area led to a number of trees and branches falling within Bristol on July 3. Officers responded to consecutive incidents throughout the afternoon and evening prioritising those most urgent.
“Contractors received a call about the fallen tree on Ashton Drive at 7.50pm on the evening of July 3. After completing work on another dangerous fallen tree, the contractors visited Ashton Drive at 10.20pm to ensure the site was safe before returning the next morning to remove the tree.”
