Fried chicken franchise Miss Millie's has entered into an agreement with Motor Fuel Group (MFG) has part of the brand's expansion plans to become nationally recognised over the coming years.
Bristol-based Miss Millie's has entered into a franchise partnership agreement with the independent forecourt operator, which will place it on the forecourt of petrol stations across the UK for the first time. With the first of the stores planned to open in May 2023.
Miss Millie's has been serving chicken across the South West and Wales for over 30 years. Yet, its roots go back to 1965 when former chairman Harry Latham, set up KFC in the UK, alongside his partner Ray Allen. Mr Latham then served as the managing director of KFC UK until the 1970's before opening stores in 1988 in the South West under the Miss Millie's brand.
Mr Latham and his family owned and ran the chain up until it was bought by new management in 2019. Today, Miss Millie’s has 11 branches across the UK in Bristol, Weston-Super-Mare, Yate Billericay and Walthamstow.
The new stores will also see the roll out of Miss Millie’s new brand, instore design, and menu. The freshly prepared food, drinks, desserts and treats, will include a range of chicken burgers, wraps, hot wings, tenders, churros and waffles.
Motor Fuel Group is the UK’s largest independent forecourt operator. It has over 900 sites offering customers a growing dual-fuel strategy, a leading valeting offer, convenient retail and ‘food to go’ portfolio, among other services.
In 2021 Miss Millie's was named, alongside Eat-A-Pitta and Taka Taka, for creating a uniquely Bristol takeaway food scene that other places just don't have.
Last year, the brand signed a deal to expand the Miss Millie’s brand to at least ten new places in the south east of England, including in London, heralding a transformational period for the firm that has been staunchly Bristol for almost 35 years.
Carl Traill managing director for Miss Millie's commented: "We are delighted to have partnered with MFG, so that more people can access Millies awesome chicken when on the move.
"Miss Millie's is always looking for innovative ways to bring its brand to more people and franchise partnerships such as this one, are an important part of the brands growth over the next few years. We hope customers enjoy the quality of food and service Miss Millie's prides itself on and look forward to working more closely with the MFG team in the coming months."
MFG’s food service director, Paul Deary said: “Food to Go is becoming a growing attraction to our forecourt customers. We are always looking to offer high quality and exciting products and I believe that the introduction of Miss Millie’s ‘awesome chicken’ range will prove to be a success.”
