Bristol's BOX-E named among UK's best Michelin restaurants again

Bristol's Box-E has attained yet another nod after it has been recognised as one of the best Michelin restaurants in the UK.

The harbourside restaurant in the Cargo shipping container development has been recognised as 'good value for money' compared to other restaurants that feature in the nation's Michelin guide. It's led by husband and wife team Elliott and Tess Lidstone who champion seasonal British cooking with a modern twist with an everchanging menu - most recent dishes are available to preview on their Instagram page.

The criteria for the top UK list by Parkdean Resorts included value for money, TripAdvisor reviews and Instagram followings to discover which Michelin restaurants offer the best all-round experience without breaking the bank.

Sharing their findings online, the holiday company said: "Our research found that BOX-E in Bristol is the UK’s best all-around Michelin restaurant, scoring 77/100 in our index. According to the Michelin guide, a meal here will set you back £32 per person and the restaurant is also rated 5/5 on TripAdvisor, showing just how much their customers enjoyed their experience here.

Box-E was also crowned the best restaurant outside London in Food and Travel magazine’s reader awards earlier this year. Speaking on the accolade, Tess Lidstone said she was "totally blown away and incredibly proud of our team and grateful for all the people who support our tiny restaurant".

The restaurant, which has a cover of 16, was the first venue to open at the harbourside Wapping Wharf development in 2016. The restaurant is open Wednesday to Saturday for dinner service and Thursday onwards for lunch.

Root - which neighbours Box-E - was also named at number eight on the same list by Parkdean Resorts. They said: "Root in Bristol offers one of the most affordable menus, averaging at just £19 per person and scoring 63/100 in our index. Root offers a deluxe contemporary European menu, and describes itself as a 'modern, veg-led, small plate restaurant'."

The mostly vegetarian-friendly restaurant was additionally highlighted for its good value in comparison to the nation's Michelin venues. They opened back in 2017 to create a forward-thinking restaurant that championed local suppliers and producers leading with a 'more veg, less meat' ethos.

Boz-E is located in Unit 10, Cargo 1, Wapping Wharf, Bristol, BS1 6WP and Root is at Unit 9 Cargo 1, Gaol Ferry Steps, Bristol BS1 6WP
