Bristol's best fish and chips shops according to our reader poll

Everyone has a go-to fish and chip shop order, whether you prefer a battered sausage, scampi or simply a classic cod in a crispy batter. Many people stay fiercely loyal to their local and there is stiff competition in different corners of the city.

But which did you think is the best one in Bristol? On National Fish and Chip Day (June 2), our readers have crowned their favourite fish and chips shop in a recent poll asking for the people's choice, with 41 different people responding with their suggestions.

It was Argus Fish Bar on West Street in Bedminster that topped the list and was mentioned most frequently, with six separate votes. It was praised as having "the best chips in the city" and for its top-notch curry sauce as well as its friendly staff.
