"I feel like I am on a rant here," Bristol Rovers Joey Barton said as he neared the end of a passionate address to reporters in his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
The subject matter clearly is of huge importance for Barton, considering he took 45 minutes out of a busy deadline day to get his message across about several topics and the state of the game as a whole.
Had his recruitment chief Eddy Jennings knocked the door about a transfer opportunity while the microphones were recording, doubtless, he would have cut off this monologue, but for most managers it may have been a day of ticking boxes in a presser and getting back to business.
