Parts of Bristol city centre will come to a standstill this weekend as people pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday. Fourteen roads will be closed for at least eight hours on Sunday (November 13) as military personnel and civic dignitaries take part in Bristol’s annual Act of Remembrance.
Members of the public are welcome to observe and attend the large military parade and civic procession, led by 7 Military Intelligence Battalion. The parade will form at College Green and leave for the Cenotaph shortly before 10.30am, with crowds of people expected to line the route.
The service itself will begin at 11am with a two-minute silence, marked and concluded by the sounding of a gun on St Augustine’s Parade. This will be followed by the laying of wreaths, a short service and the National Anthem.
