Bristol Distilling Company has closed its taproom on the Malago Vale trading estate in Bedminster due to an "access dispute" according to a post on the company's Instagram page. In the post, Bristol Distilling company says that they have "taken the decision to close the taproom for now" due to an "access dispute" on the estate but hopes to reopen it again soon.
The tap room is located at the company's distillery, where it re-barrels Bourbon Whiskey from Indiana and also produces a range of gins, including its classic London dry Gin 77, Passion fruit Gin 77, Black (a cold brew coffee and vanilla liqueur), Dark Fruit Gin 77 and Berry Gin 77. The moniker 77 is in reference to the original Bristol Distilling Company founded in 1863 on Cheese Lane, which was destroyed in the Bristol Blitz in 1940, 77 years before entrepreneur Jake Black, who also founded Chomp, opened his own Bristol Distilling Company.
The distillery supplies its beverages to several other Bristol businesses, including left Handed Giant Brewpub, The Tobacco Factory and Grain Barge. The tap room at the trading estate site re-opened last April, serving drinks and cocktails every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 5-11 pm.
