Words of love and memories during a lifetime exceed even the richest of riches when it comes to someone's final moments. And those messages also act as comfort, closure and a sounding board for thoughts and wishes long after someone has left this world.
That's why each week Bristol Live shares the messages and tributes of those who have recently passed, or those who have been gone for longer, right here on our page in the form of death and funeral notices. These tributes tell of lifetimes spent together, adventures embarked on, loves that have stood the test of time, sibling love that is incomparable, the luck of simply knowing someone, or a friend that made life all the more special.

Died peacefully on April 26 aged 99 years. A lovely Mum, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister & "Aunty Thelma" to many, who will be very much missed by daughters, Jackie & Chris, and all her family & friends.

Mum will be lovingly remembered and always live in our hearts. Her absence leaves a massive void in our lives, but at least she is now back with Dad.

The Reverend Canon John Wilson
Slipped away very peacefully on May 17, aged 93. A Church of England minister for over 60 years, John worked as a parish priest in churches across Bristol, starting as a curate at St Mary's Fishponds, then becoming the Vicar at St Francis, Ashton Gate, before being appointed as the Rector of Holy Trinity Parish Church in Horfield, where he was made Canon of Bristol Cathedral.
He was the Chaplain at Bristol Hippodrome throughout his working life. A huge personality with a lust for life and a great sense of humour, he will be missed enormously by his family and many friends.
John's funeral will take place at Bristol Cathedral at 2pm on Wednesday, June 1. All welcome. No flowers please but donations can be made to St Peter's Hospice.
