Bristol City CEO Richard Gould has said the club are working with police to help identify the supporters caught up in an incident inside Ashton Gate on Saturday.
Video footage on social media appears to show a scuffle involving a Birmingham City fan who was sitting amongst the home supporters in the Dolman Stand. It is suggested violence broke out after the Blues fan celebrated the team's second goal of the afternoon in City's 2-1 defeat.
Avon and Somerset police said a group of supporters were ejected following the ruckus while Gould admitted they are using CCTV footage to find the culprits.
As reported by Bristol World, he said: "Bristol City condemns any form of violence and public disorder and is working closely with Avon and Somerset Police in regards to an incident that took place at the fixture against Birmingham City on Saturday at Ashton Gate.
“Supporters involved in the incident were ejected from the ground and Ashton Gate is utilising its extensive CCTV system to identify further individuals involved.”
A spokesperson from the police force further added: "We’re aware of a video on social media showing a public order incident during Bristol City’s game against Birmingham City on Saturday.
"Officers spoke with a number of people after they were ejected from the ground by security staff following the incident and enquiries into it are ongoing.”
Birmingham sold out their allocated away tickets for the fixture with 22,000 supporters inside Ashton Gate to witness Nigel Pearson's side lose their third consecutive match.
Defeat for the hosts meant Birmingham leapfrogged them in the table into 18th while the Robins dropped a spot into 19th - three points above Hull.
