Bristol City player ratings vs Wigan: Joe Williams solid as Mehmeti shows glimpses of quality

Max O'Leary - 6

Usually so good defending his area, he had a couple of nervy moments from crosses including missing one in the first half which almost proved costly. Had little chance with the equalising goal. Made a good save against Lang in the 80th minute.

George Tanner - 6

Was particularly handed his toughest test up against James McClean and dealt with him well. Link-up play with Weimann wasn't as fluid in comparison to Sykes in recent weeks. Almost caught out by Lang at the back post on 80 minutes.

Zak Vyner - 6

Not handed the most difficult of evenings but may feel he lost his man for the equaliser when a low cross found its way to Ashley Fletcher. Really positive in possession, and rarely gave away the ball when looking to play through the lines.

Rob Atkinson - 7

Left completely unmarked to score the opening goal and he couldn't miss with the quality of Mehmeti's cross for his fourth of the season. Produced a number of trademark runs forward and rarely troubled defensively.

Cam Pring - 6

Looked to press forward but failed to match his brilliant performance at the weekend. Couldn't get around his man as much as he would have liked to create space on the overlap for Mehmeti. Final ball disappointing at times.

Matty James - 7

Again, played as though he barely broke a sweat. Played a lovely ball over the top for Weimann in the first half. Marshalled instructions in the second half when City were pressing for the winner. Good in possession.

Joe Williams - 8

Industrial against his former side, kept it simple when on the ball but won countless tackles in the midfield to break up play. Produced a superb cross which Scott headed off the woodwork. An impressive performance.

Alex Scott (off 77, Bell) - 7

Some real moments of quality playing in that No10 role and was almost rewarded with a run into the area from deep in the first half. Started brightly but drifted out of the game. Really unlucky when his header hit the crossbar before coming off.

Andi Weimann (off 77, Bell) - 5

Played out on the right in replace of Mark Sykes. Was desperate to keep his place in the team, perhaps over-eager at times when he found himself in good positions. Final ball was disappointing with the majority overhit.

Harry Cornick (off 60, Wells) - 6

Can certainly link up the play by dropping deep and is very intricate with his flicks to bring others into play. A few loose passes in the final third but plenty of movement to drag defenders out of position. Didn't get involved in the second half before coming off on the hour mark.

Anis Mehmeti - 7

First real glimpse of his ability midway through the first half when he beat two men for space on the left before creating an opportunity for Scott. Produced a superb cross for Atkinson's opening goal. Almost added a second when a cross/shot cannoned the post. Drifted in and out of the game.

Substitutes

Nahki Wells (on 60, Cornick) - 6

Couldn't really get involved on his introduction. Forced to feed off scraps.

Mark Sykes (on 77, Weimann) - N/A

Sam Bell (on 77, Scott) -N/A

Subs not used: Haikin, Dasilva, King, Kalas
