Bristol City player ratings vs Swansea: Makeshift defence hold their own in hard-fought draw

Max O'Leary - 7

Was superb at commanding his area from crosses and was applauded by Pearson when coming to catch a deep cross. Had little to do in regards to shot-stopping but had little chance with a well-hit equaliser.

George Tanner - 7

Was given constant instructions by Pearson in the first half down the right side and seemed to benefit with bursting runs forward including one that almost opened the scoring inside one minute. Maintained his concentration and proved he can be trusted when coming into the side.

Zak Vyner - 7

Seemed to relish that role in the middle of three, showed his organisational and leadership skills by constantly giving instructions to both George Tanner and Cam Pring. Was slightly unfortunate that his header from a corner came out to Ntcham's path.

Cam Pring - 8

Drafted in late due to the illness of Rob Atkinson and stood up to the task at hand in an unfamiliar position on the left of the back three. Wasn't reluctant to get forward. Dispelled any myths that he has a fitness problem. Launched himself into a crucial block towards the end. Booked for a late challenge.

Mark Sykes - 7

A lot more positive in his attacking approach than he has shown in the last couple of weeks. Drove forward on countless occasions and his deliveries were also effective. Defensively sound alongside Tanner, the duo in constant communication.

Jay Dasilva - 7

Like Sykes, showed a lot more positivity in his attacking play while remaining disciplined marking Matthew Sorinola out on the right side. Crosses were also more dangerous than they have been recently. Much more encouraging.

Matty James - 7

Didn't try anything spectacular, just sat deep in midfield and concentrated on his job of providing that extra cover in front of the defence and disrupting Swansea's possession. Made a crunching and crucial tackle in the centre-circle when the visitors threatened to break.

Alex Scott (off 80, Williams) - 7

Crucially won the ball high up the field on a number of occasions which sparked an attack or two on the counter. Superbly disciplined alongside James, pushing forward and making challenges at the right times. Looked tired and was replaced in the final 10 minutes.

Tommy Conway (off 80, King) - 8

Conway doing what he does best with the opening goal when he made a positive forward run before deftly finishing into the bottom corner. Didn't stop running the channels and was constantly looking for the ball and the counter-attack.

Antoine Semenyo (off 73, Martin) - 7

Somehow denied in the early stages from six-yards out with a brilliant save from the keeper. Started as the deeper of the trio in attack but was also to be fluid with his movement. Had another tame effort straight at the keeper. Swansea really struggled to deal with his physicality at times.

Nahki Wells (off 73, Bell) - 7

Could have opened the scoring when he made a darting run across the box before having a decent effort saved by the legs of the keeper. Assisted Conway with a perfectly weighted pass. Movement was excellent throughout and all City's attacks seemed to have come through him. Just missing a goal.

Substitutes

Chris Martin (on 73, Semenyo) - 6

Had a couple of openings out on the left side but couldn't turn them into goalscoring opportunities. Allowed the ball to stick when needed.

Sam Bell (on 73, Wells) - 6

Threatened to break with his pace on the counter but just didn't fall for him. His energy was a nuisance when closing down the ball.

Andy King (on 80, Conway) - N/A

Joe Williams (on 80, Scott) - N/A

Subs not used: Bentley, Kadji, Low
