Bristol City player ratings vs Blackburn Rovers: Antoine Semenyo a handful but Sykes struggles

Max O'Leary - 6

Wasn't tested in the first half with Blackburn barely creating anything going forward. Had no chance with Dack's opener from close range. Safe hands from crosses but kicking wayward on occasions.

George Tanner - 6

Did a decent job in keeping Ben Brereton-Diaz quiet on his side but looked reluctant to get forward on the overlap with Sykes. Seemed more lively following Bell's introduction having worked himself into crossing positions.

Zak Vyner - 7

Another assured performance at the back although was rarely threatened. It was his run forward and strike that was parried into Semenyo's path for the equaliser. Booked for a heavy tackle.

Rob Atkinson - 6

A strong defensive showing and may feel unfortunate that the opener came down his side. Went about his business without any fuss including a trademark mazy run from deep in the first half.

Cam Pring - 6

Kept quiet in the opening 45 minutes with Blackburn covering the left side in numbers to prevent him from going forward. More attacking intent in the second half but like a few of the players, looked leggy from midweek exploits.

Kal Naismith - 6

Comfortable in the defensive midfield role for large periods and threaded positive passes to get City on the front foot. Set-pieces largely frustrating with many failing to beat their first man. Appeared to switch off for Blackburn's goal.

Matty James - 6

Produced a lovely cross that almost led to Nahki Wells opening the scoring. Had the license to get forward and almost scored from a corner in the second half. Deliveries from free-kicks were largely disappointing.

Alex Scott - 6

Couldn't influence the game as he would have liked, especially in the first half. Got on the ball more in the second half with a lovely ball through to Bell in the build-up to the equaliser.

Mark Sykes (off 66, Bell) - 5

Didn't have much of an impact in the first half and looked a little off-sync with George Tanner down the right. Looked leggy from Tuesday's FA Cup game and was taken off just after the hour mark.

Antoine Semenyo - 7

City's brightest player in the first half with Blackburn struggling to pick up his runs. Crashed the side netting after Blackburn's opener before tapping in from close range for the equaliser. Hopefully, that won't be his last in City colours.

Nahki Wells - 6

Had City's best chance of the first half when his glancing header was saved by Thomas Kaminski. Had a decent penalty shout predictably turned down. A frustrating afternoon with few opportunities in front of goal. His movement contributed to Ayala's red card.

Substitutes

Sam Bell (on 66, Sykes) - 7

Provided the injection of energy needed on his introduction and won the corner that eventually led up to the equaliser. Unfortunate to have his goal disallowed due to offside towards the end.

Subs not used: Bentley, Dasilva, Williams, King, Kalas, Taylor-Clarke
