Bristol City player ratings vs Barnsley: Dasilva can hold head high as Atkinson struggles

Dan Bentley - 6

Little chance with the two goals, made a good save in the second half to stop Barnsley scoring a third. Almost punished when he spilled a strike from distance.

Jay Dasilva - 7

City's brightest player throughout the evening, forced to play in two different positions switching from the left to the right. Defensively sound and one of the players who can hold their heads high. Delivered a great cross to Martin and then had a smart shot saved.

Timm Klose - 6

None of the goals were particularly his fault but was given the run around by the Barnsley strike force. Almost seemed a stranger playing between both Atkinson and Cundy.

Rob Atkinson - 5

Left on his backside twice by Morris in the first half which pretty much summed up his half. Incredibly nervy performance. Moved over to left-back after Scott's injury but struggled to deal with the pace on the flank.

Robbie Cundy - 5

Was beaten to the ball by Michal Halik for Barnsley's second goal. Couldn't deal with Quina in the first half. Made a good interception to deny the opposition from sneaking in on goal.

Andi Weimann - 6

Missed a glorious chance to restore the deficit during the first half when his sliding effort from Semenyo's cross missed the target from close range. Looked tired after his exploits on Saturday. Seemed to be playing in three or four different positions.

Matty James - 5

A tame strike in the first half and perhaps could have been more alert for Barnsley's opener. Still looks to be struggling with his match fitness. Better in the second half but disrupted by losing his two midfield partners to injury.

Han-Noah Massengo - 5

A player low on confidence. Seemed to go for the safe options in midfield instead of trying to push the team forward with his trademark runs. Needed a big performance but flattered to deceive.

Alex Scott (off 39) - 5

Lasted just 39 minutes when an injury forced him off for Joe Williams. Went up for a challenge from a corner and went down holding his leg before limping off. A couple of decent passes but not much to report on his performance.

Chris Martin - 6

May have scored from Semenyo's cross if he had been quicker off the mark. Hustled and bustled trying to disrupt the Barnsley backline. Had a decent chance from Dasilva's cross but headed over.

Antoine Semenyo - 6

City's most dangerous striker in the first period including a terrific cross that Weimann failed to convert. Glimpses of his quality with smart runs but couldn't engineer himself a clear strike on goal. Lost the ball too many times.

Substitutes

Joe Williams (on 39, off 55) - N/A

Heartbreakingly limped off injured with an apparent hamstring issue.

Nahki Wells (on 55, Williams) - 6

A lovely piece of skill on the touchline. Tried to get the attack going but wasn't on the same wavelength as his team-mates.

Tommy Conway (on 87, Semenyo) - N/A

Subs not used: Wiles-Richards, Vyner, Bell, Conway,
