Bristol City player ratings: Dan Bentley impresses again but Semenyo endures tough afternoon

Dan Bentley - 8

Made two brilliant early saves, including one to deny Spence from scoring the opener early on. Unlucky with the opener as Spencer's shot took a deflection on its way in. Helpless with the second. Another excellent save to deny a third going in with his legs. City's best player.

Jay Dasilva - 6

Sloppy in possession on numerous periods in the first half but neither of the wing-backs had an easy afternoon against Forest's attack. Moved to the left to mark Spece in the second half and kept him quieter. Did at least try to get forward but to no avail.

Tomas Kalas - 5

Involved in a really tough duel with Keinan Davis and struggled to contain the striker for periods with Klose coming across to cover him. Cheaply gave the ball away in the second half but made a great header over his own bar from a dangerous delivery. Lost possession in the second half but Bentley bailed him out. Forced to come off injured.

Timm Klose - 6

Covered for Kalas well, particularly in the first half and moved over to the left of a three in the second half. Confident with the ball at his feet and good in possession. A tough test against a strong Forest side but held his own at times.

Cam Pring (off Cundy, 45) - 5

Booked early on, albeit unfortunately, but was run ragged down the left side during the first half by Spence. Offered little protection by the midfield who were playing too narrow to help him out. Off at half-time as Pearson switched tactics.

Joe Williams - 6

A typical industrial-like performance by Williams in the middle and was given a long afternoon by Forest's attack who kept him very deep. A couple of wasteful passes when trying to move the ball forward but showed intent. Full of running until the final whistle.

Alex Scott - 6

Glimpses of his quality in the centre of the park in the first half but couldn't get on the ball as much as he would have liked. Moved to wing-back in the second half but the goal came down his side. A terrific block to deny a third just after the hour mark. Quieter in the second period.

Han-Noah Massengo (off James, 64) - 5

Not his finest performance in the middle as City really struggled to get hold of the ball. Looked tired following a run of matches, which seemed evident against Coventry in the week. Forced to chase shadows at times and didn't contribute much offensively.

Andi Weimann - 6

Took a knock to the knee in the first half and seemed to be playing through the pain for a lengthy spell. The only player that looked like making something happen offensively and was full of running but without the service required to make a difference.

Antoine Semenyo - 5

Just couldn't get his game going today. Made a good run into the box in the first half but struggled to stamp his authority on proceedings. Lacked service going forward and was marked out of the game. Appeared frustrated as the game went on.

Chris Martin (off Wells, 58) - 5

Struggled to hold up the ball in the first half as City's attack failed to get going. Lasted just over 10 minutes in the second half before coming off for Wells. A tough afternoon for Martin.

Substitutes

Robbie Cundy (on Pring, 45) - 6

A good chance to take a look at Cundy and he performed reasonably well on the right side of a defensive three.

Nahki Wells - 6

Desperately tried to prove a point on his introduction and was certainly more lively in his cameo than Martin without getting a sniff on goal. Got in behind once and delivered a good cross but nobody on the end of it.

Matty James - 5

Great to see him back in the side but couldn't make an impact.

Subs not used: Wiles-Richards, Vyner, Bell, Benarous
