Bristol City have loaned attacking midfielder Ewan Clark to National League side Yeovil Town until January, with Robins forward Sam Pearson returning to Ashton Gate due to “fatigue”.
Pearson joined the Glovers on loan in July and has made 11 appearances under Chris Hargreaves, scoring two goals. The 21-year-old played 90 minutes against Oldham on Saturday but is now back with the City Under-21 set-up to recover.
Clark, who began his career in the Southampton academy, joined City from non-league Oxford City in the summer and has started the last three Under-21 fixtures, scoring against QPR last week. The 19-year-old made his debut for Yeovil on Tuesday night, playing 90 minutes at Huish Park in a 2-0 defeat to Aldershot.
“Ewan is a young player who arrives with experience at a good level within the non-league ranks,” Hargreaves said. “He is an exciting attacking player who we believe is ready to hit the ground running. We would like to thank Bristol City for their cooperation on the deal.”
Clark has mainly featured as a central attacking midfielder in the City youth set-up but can also play as a winger or wide forward, similar to Pearson. City hold a 28-day recall option over the move to Somerset and insist that Pearson’s loan return is temporary.
The Wales Under-21 international, who spent last season in Scotland with Inverness, initially joined Yeovil on a one-month deal but that was extended until January after an impressive early impact for the Glovers.
Yeovil lie fourth bottom of the National League with just one win in their last 10 matches, and were eliminated in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup by Taunton Town.
Former Bristol Rovers coach Hargreaves took over as manager in the summer as long-term replacement for Darren Sarll who departed towards the end of last season to join league rivals Woking.
