Bristol boxer Brad Ingram given fresh impetus and inspiration to succeed inside the ring

Bristol welterweight Brad Ingram says the arrival of his first child has given him added motivation to succeed as a professional boxer.

Ingram, who trains out of Sweat Box Gym in Bristol, has gone on to string a run of three straight wins since making his debut this time last year and will be hoping to add a fourth on Saturday, November 26 in Swindon.

The 23-year-old is set to feature on Neilson Boxing’s final show of the year alongside fellow unbeaten prospects Max Mudway, Jordan Flynn and more.

Even though he has been busy fighting, Ingram also welcomed his first child this year and says it has given him further incentive to do well in the sport.

“The first few weeks were a little bit hard but I’ve got used to it now,” said Ingram, who also paid tribute to his wife Emily. “Becoming a parent has definitely given me a bit of added motivation because I want to be a role model to my son.

“My partner is good, she keeps everything on track. She always knew that boxing was a big part of my life and she knows what it means to me."

The Bristol-based fighter is set to face Paul Scaife over six rounds in his next bout, which will see him return to the MECA in Swindon. His fourth contest will be his last of the year as the welterweight weighs up the pros and cons of life as an athlete.

“I’ve found the year good, but it’s gone so quickly it’s unbelievable this fight coming up will be my fourth one this year which is good going,” he added. “The activity has been great. I wouldn’t like to be a fighter who fights once every six months.

“The hardest thing about becoming a professional boxer is that it takes up all of my time. When I wake up in the morning I’ve got training, I have to think about what I’m going to eat, then I have work and when I get back I have training again.”
