Bristol Bears have confirmed the loan signings of scrum-halves Toby Venner and Max Green with immediate effect.
Gloucester number nine Venner, who has impressed throughout his spell at GKIPA Championship side Hartpury, joins on loan until the end of the 2021/22 season, while Green comes onboard from West Country neighbours Bath on a short-term agreement.
With Harry Randall away on Six Nations duty and Andy Uren and Tom Whiteley unavailable due to long-term injuries, Bears bolster their depth with Venner and Green’s arrivals with just Theo Strang currently available as a specialist nine.
Strang made his Premiership debut on Friday night in the defeat to London Irish, scoring a try during the late rally.
Both new signings are available for selection in the club’s Gallagher Premiership clash with Worcester Warriors on Friday.
Bath head coach Neal Hatley said: “With no A League fixtures and the cancellation of the Premiership Rugby Cup match just after Christmas, Max has been unfortunate not to have had more minutes this season.
“His attitude and application week-to-week has been exemplary, and we hope he makes the most of his experience with Bristol before returning to us.”
