LUCKNOW: Even as encephalitis deaths in the state have recorded a decline of 90% in the last five years, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed health officials to work harder and bring down the death rate to less than 2%.
According to state health department data, 55 deaths were recorded in 2021 (calendar year) due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) as compared to 655 casualties in 2017.
