Last year saw the beloved Brighton Pride make a return after its three-year hiatus to the joy of many.
This year is set to be bigger than ever with a schedule packed with music, enjoyment, and celebration.
The theme will be the same as 2022’s: Love - Protest - Unity, which aims to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and recognise that the movement began with protests, while highlighting the need for unity to create an equal world for all.
But when will it take place, what route will the parade follow, who will be performing and how can you get your hands on some tickets?
Here is everything you need to know before the event.
When is Brighton Pride 2023?
Brighton Pride 2023 will be a three-day affair.
It will take place between Friday, August 4 and Monday, August 7.
What route will the 2023 Brighton Pride follow?
The Brighton Pride Parade, which will happen on Saturday, August 5, will kick off in the Hove Lawns and travel through the city.
Some recommend that attendees pick a spot on the seafront to get the most enjoyable view of it.
The Brighton Pride Village Party, which happens along St James’s Street and the bottom of Kemptown’s Marine Parade is also set to be atmospheric.
Brighton Pride - We Are Fabuloso 2023 lineup
Arguably, Brighton Pride 2023’s biggest event is the two-day festival in Preston Park called We Are Fabuloso.
This year, the event will be headlined by Black Eyed Peas, and rumours are suggesting that Britney Spears could make an appearance as a guest star, too.
On Saturday, the main stage will also welcome Zara Larsson, Confidence Man, Jax Jones, Dylan, Mae Muller, Bellah Mae, and the Blackmordia.
With the likes of Honey Dijon, Gok Wan, Ross Jones and Summer Ghemati, the other stages will be packed with action, too.
Sunday will see Stes, Mel C, Louise, B*witched, The Vivienne, Harley Moon Kemp and Tom Aspaul rock the main stage.
Meanwhile, the other stages will include performances by Patrick Wolf, Alex Party, Miss Disney, and more.
How to get tickets
While people don’t need to pay to come and watch the joyful Pride Parade or be a part of the atmosphere across Brighton, tickets will be required for the Brighton Pride Village Party and the We Are Fabuloso concerts in Preston Park.
Tickets for the Village Party can be bought on the official Brighton Pride website. The funds gathered from ticket sales will be used to support the Brighton Rainbow Fund and Pride Social Impact Fund.
We are Fabuloso tickets, however, are available on the event’s own website.
Some smaller events across the city may also require visitors to purchase a ticket.
How to travel to Brighton Pride from London
Getting to Brighton from London is fairly straightforward.
While visitors can choose to drive to London, it is important to note that there will be significant road closures once the festivities kick off and parking might prove difficult and pricey.
So, the easier option would be to use public transportation. Usually, the Southern and Thameslink trains provide frequent trains from London, and the National Express runs hourly services from the London Victoria bus station, too.
Unfortunately, the Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) has revealed that it won’t be running any trains to or from Brighton Station on Saturday, August 5 because of Aslef’s overtime ban as the union’s battle to address train workers’ salaries continues.
Brighton and Hove’s Council Leader Bella Sankey and Sadiq Khan have since released a joint letter to GTR expressing their concern about the decision, saying the rail disruption would have a “disastrous” impact on Pride and they expect the company to have “planned ahead”, “mitigated possible risks and put in place suitable provisions”.
The trains may not be running on Saturday 5th August, but that won't stop us campaigning, protesting and celebrating.
